A proposed RV, trailer, and boat storage facility in an industrial area near Dixie Farm Road and Main Street took a step forward Monday after earning a needed zone change recommendation from the Pearland Planning and Zoning Commission.

The project was recommended by city staff, who said it would provide a buffer between Dixie Farm Road and the landfill to the east.

“As you drive from (Highway) 35 to Pearland Parkway, you actually see the landfill — you’ve got a lot of areas sitting out there, a heavy industrial area,” said applicant Paige McKee, representing Dixie Farm Property.

“Y’all had me at ‘hello,'” said Planning and Zoning Commissioner Derrell Isenberg. “I think it’s an excellent fit for out there. It’s going to be an upgrade to the neighborhood.”

The commission postponed its recommendation from the March meeting to allow the applicant to work out issues with materials, landscaping, and parking.

The commission’s unanimous recommendation is forwarded to Pearland City Council for a vote at a future meeting.
