Storm-damaged elementary to be demolished

Date:

Alvin ISD’s tornado-damaged Disney Elementary is set to be demolished, and a new one built in its place.

Opened in 1979, the campus was heavily damaged by an EF-2 tornado in December. Students and staff have been attending classes at the former Alvin Elementary on Rosharon Road. Much of the costs will be covered by insurance. The Alvin school board on April 8 approved contracts that included asbestos abatement and demolition of the campus.
