City earns Comptroller’s transparency award

Date:

The City of Pearland in April earned a Trailblazer Award for Transparency from the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts.

The designation is awarded to local governments earning five or more Transparency Stars across key categories of financial disclosure. Pearland is one of 19 local governments in Texas to achieve the distinction and one of eight municipalities recognized at the five-star level.

The Transparency Stars program, launched in 2016 by Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar, recognizes government entities that go above and beyond to provide public access to financial information. It evaluates transparency in six areas: traditional finances, contracts and procurement, economic development, public pensions, debt obligations, and open government and compliance.
