A parade, reenactment of the Emancipation Trail, immersive historical exhibit, film screenings, and more will be part of the City of Pearland’s Juneteenth Freedom Celebration on Saturday, June 21.

Recognized as a federal holiday in 2021, Juneteenth is celebrated on June 19, 1865, when word of the Emancipation Proclamation reached Galveston and marked the end of slavery.

Pearland’s celebration will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, at Independence Park, 3449 Pearland Parkway. Pearland Parks and Recreation Department is hosting events.

June 1 is the deadline for all parade entries as well as food vendors. The event sponsor deadline is June 13, and the deadline for craft and nonprofit vendors is June 15.
