Theft

May 12 (9:39 a.m.) A Friendswood woman mailed a check from the Friendswood Post Office on April 14, 2025. On April 21, the check was fraudulently cashed via mobile deposit after being altered to reflect a different payee. The fraud was discovered when the intended recipient reported non-receipt of payment. Upon further review, two additional checks mailed the same day were flagged by the victim’s bank as suspected forgeries, and stop payments were issued.

May 13 (11:39 a.m.) A gun was stolen from a vehicle.  The victim reports that he believes the gun was stolen while the vehicle was in for service at Ron Carter GMC in Alvin, between April 29, 2025, and May 7, 2025.

May 16 (8:57 a.m.) A vehicle was stolen from the 16100 block of Forest Bend Avenue. The vehicle is described as a black 2015 Hyundai Elantra four-door, Texas license plates NWF0430.

May 16 (5:56 p.m.) A black male, 5’7”, 225 lbs., wearing a white shoulder cut off shirt, navy green shorts or pants, white and black shoes attempted to pass a counterfeit $100 bill at Walgreens, 104 E. Parkwood Avenue. The suspect left without any merchandise. The counterfeit bill was turned over to the police.

May 17 (3:54 p.m.) A 42-year-old Friendswood woman is accused of using her ex-husband’s credit card cash rewards to make unauthorized purchases.  According to the victim, $1,300 in cash rewards were stolen. The suspect was not an authorized user on the card and even after several attempts to change the card number, the suspect was able to access the card information to make the fraudulent purchases.

May 17 (5:13 p.m.) A Pearland food truck owner stole 14 bundles of firewood after paying for only one. HEB captured the theft on video. Police contacted the suspect who returned to HEB to pay for the wood. The suspect was given a criminal trespass warning not to return to the store. Identification was based on the food truck owner’s vehicle that had the name of his business in the rear window and the license plate number.

May 14 (2:39 p.m.) Newly installed bollard lights that line the walking trail inside Forest Bend Park were vandalized.  A total of five lights were damaged: $25,000 worth of damage.

Fraud

May 12 (9:04 a.m.) A Friendswood man reports that someone tried to blackmail him. An unknown person demanded money in exchange for not posting pictures online after sending photos of himself to a fake profile on a social media site.

May 12 (10:51 a.m.) A Friendswood man was contacted by a caller identifying himself as a Digital Tech representative. The caller falsely claimed the victim’s bank account was compromised and offered to help “resolve” the issue. The suspects convinced the victim to allow remote access to his computer and manipulated him into withdrawing funds from his bank account and purchasing gift cards from Target, Macy’s, Walmart, and AT&T. The victim then provided the gift card numbers to the suspects. These individuals did not hack the victim’s account; instead, they used social engineering tactics to trick him into making the purchases himself.

May 12 (2:00 p.m.) A man attempted to make a withdrawal with a stolen ID at Texas First Bank located at 111 W. Parkwood Avenue.  The suspect is described as a white male, in his 60s, and was wearing a white shirt, tan cargo shorts and black slip-on sandals with socks. He was walking with a cane.   He disappeared before the police arrived.

May 12 (8:38 p.m.) A 71-year-old Friendswood woman received a phone call at 5:54 p.m., from someone claiming to be with Wells Fargo Bank. They were reporting fraudulent activity on her bank account.  The caller also advised that a Wells Fargo employee would be coming to her house to cut up her debit card and give her a new one.  At approximately 8:00 p.m., a black female, 25-30 years of age, with a dragon neck tattoo arrived at her home and a caretaker gave the woman the victim’s card.  In a 30-minute period 8 fraudulent transactions were made at a Pearland and a Friendswood Kroger store.

May 13 (12:53 p.m.) A Friendswood woman’s debit card was compromised and used to make several fraudulent transactions including an ATM withdrawal from Chas Bank ATM at 611 S. Friendswood Drive. Two other fraudulent transactions were made at Target and Best Buy in Webster.

Trespass

May 17 (6:38 p.m.) A homeowner in the 2400 block of Pebble Lodge Lane arrived at home to find a vehicle backed into the drive. The owner entered the home, went upstairs, and looked outside to see a male and female standing in her front yard. They made eye contact, ran to their vehicle, and left the scene, almost striking the owner’s vehicle as they left. Police have identified the male suspect from the vehicle license plate; the identity of the female has not yet been determined.

Traffic

May 18 (7:09 p.m.) Police are investigating a hit and run e-bike accident that occurred near the intersection of Austin Trail and Friendswood Trail. Two children – 8 years old and 12 years old – were struck by a black SUV driven by an “older white woman”. The SUV had stickers on the back; one was yellow. According to the children, the driver of the SUV failed to stop and check on the status of the children, instead drove out of the neighborhood.
