Clear Creek ISD to Unveil “Voyager” STEAM Mobile Maker Lab and Bookmobile

Date:

Reading, Exploring and Beyond Coming to a Neighborhood Near You

Clear Creek ISD is pleased to announce the debut of its new STEAM rolling maker space lab and bookmobile, Voyager, on June 16, 2025.

Funded by the Clear Creek Education Foundation (CCEF), the Voyager bus will inspire a love for literacy and offer Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) exploration opportunities year-round, bridging learning from the classroom into the community.

Voyager also provides equitable access to resources, materials, and certified educators for children and families, taking the learning and literacy message on the road.

“The Clear Creek Education Foundation was proud to award the grant to bring Voyager to life,” said CCEF Chairman J.P. Morris. “Few districts have revolutionized the learning experience beyond the classroom walls, and we believed supporting this mobile, flexible and innovative space broke the traditional boundaries of the school day and buildings.”

The inaugural journey will begin on June 16, “docking” for the first day of its mission at Armand Bayou Elementary, Whitcomb Elementary, and the Freeman Branch Library. From superheroes to curious creatures, each stop will feature a new adventure for all who board the bus. Voyager’s full summer mission schedule is planned for Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, so visit ccisd.net/voyager.

“Voyager has been an exciting culmination of a unique cross-collaboration between our generous education foundation and multiple CCISD departments and students,” said Director of Library Media Services Suzy Ferrell.

The transportation team prepared the interior and exterior of the bus, which had been excluded from the District’s active fleet. Students from the construction science program housed at Clear Creek High School supported retrofitting the bus’s interior and building the learning spaces. Librarians facilitated book donations to support summer reading.

The public is invited to a ribbon cutting and to explore Voyager on June 23, 2025, at 5 pm at the CCISD Education Support Center (2425 E. Main St., League City, TX 77573).

Throughout the school year, Voyager will stop at CCISD campuses, offering a unique learning space for students to creatively engage in innovative activities that support curriculum, critical thinking, and personal growth.
