An overdue fine amnesty program at all Brazoria County library branches will end on May 31.
Designed to remove barriers to library access, the program will waive all library fines with no questions asked for patrons who return late items, even if they are months or years overdue.
“This is our way of saying: we miss you, and we want you back,” said Library Director Lisa Loranc. “Whether it’s been a while since you’ve visited or you’ve been holding onto a book you thought was too late to return — now’s the perfect time to come in.”
The amnesty only applies to late fines; patrons will still be responsible for charges regarding damage to items, replacement costs for lost items, cleaning or processing fees, and collection agency charges.
