City of Pearland sticks with Frontier, extends contract

Date:

After a lengthy-but-smooth transition in 2021, the City of Pearland on Monday extended its solid waste contract with Frontier Waste Solutions another five years through Sept. 2031.

City Council voted unanimously to extend the original five-year contract with the company. The extension will include the same twice-per-week pickup service for residential customers.

“Over the past four years, Frontier has provided great field service as well as customer service for us,” City Manager Trent Epperson said.

Changing waste pickup service was a daunting task, city leaders agreed. The city switched from longtime provider Waste Management to Frontier on Oct. 1, 2021.

“If the water turns on, the toilet flushes and the trash goes away, life if pretty good for most people,” Mayor Kevin Cole said, “but we went and changed that. It was a little hairy walking into it.”
