ACC Foundation Names Brown Emeritus Member

Date:

The Alvin Community College Foundation board recently named Brenda Brown as an emeritus board director for nearly 50 years of service to the organization.

Brown has served on the ACC Foundation board for 48 years and is a charter member. She was also a member of the ACC Board of Regents for 24 years. Brown is the first Foundation board member to receive emeritus status.

“I love working with the college and this is the best organization,” she said. “I’ve always said that ACC is the best thing that Alvin has to offer. Thank you for this honor and I want us to keep up all the hard work.”

The Foundation board made the announcement during their board meeting on September 16. Brown first joined the board when it originated in 1978. In that time, Brown has served on the membership and special events committees.

The ACC Foundation is a private, non-profit organization that raises funds to support the mission of Alvin Community College. The Foundation provides funding for scholarships, emergency assistance and grants for ACC students and staff.
