Herbs for the Health of It will be presented at the next meeting of Heritage Gardeners on October 2 at 10 am. Galveston County Master Gardeners Briana Etie and Donna Merritt are the presenters. The two have put together a series of herb related programs that have been given as master garden programs at the Galveston County Texas A&M AgriLife Extension building in La Marque. This presentation is one in the series.
The two will be in Friendswood at 112 W. Spreading Oaks to present at the garden club. Etie has previously given several presentations at the clubhouse for Heritage Gardeners.
At this herbal presentation those attending will learn how to use everyday herbs to boost immunity, reduce stress and enhance vitality. Attendees will take an exploratory journey where ancient wisdom meets modern wellness.
Both women are actively involved in the Galveston County Master Gardener Association. Etie serves as secretary in the organization. She is also the lead of the greenhouse activities in the MG research area, the Discovery Garden. Merritt is the lead of the herb garden on site there also.
Heritage Gardeners meet the first Thursday of each month at 9:30 am from September to May. In January the club will celebrate their 60th anniversary having been founded in 1966 in Friendswood.
Anyone interested in gardening with herbs is welcome to attend October 2. The meet and greet time will begin at 9:30 am with the presentation following at 10 am. The event is part of the regularly scheduled monthly meeting.
The club members have begun working on their holiday fundraiser, the Christmas Tour of Homes, bake sale, Holiday Market of 50 plus vendors and raffles. The huge event is planned for November 22-23 (Saturday and Sunday). More details will be announced soon.
