Oilers Playoff Streak Continues

Date:

Pearland senior wide receiver Jordan “Jet” Hernandez goes high for a 44-yard reception on a pass from quarterback Jake Westmoreland on Friday night vs Dobie.  Hernandez had six catches for 121 yards and two touchdowns in the 43-13 victory for Pearland.  The Oiler offense has been well-balanced all season, with running and receiving threats across the field, plus a stout defense and excellent special teams, leading to statewide recognition.

As a result, Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Magazine Official AP rankings now list the Oilers at number six in the state in Class 6A.  The win over Dobie clinched a playoff spot for the 26th consecutive year for Pearland, one of the longest active streaks in the state.  Up next, the Oilers will hit the road to face Pasadena Memorial on Thursday, Oct. 16, at Pasadena’s Veterans Memorial Stadium with an early 6:30pm kickoff.
