Land near O’Day, Garden roads may develop as homes

Date:

Owners of property at O’Day Road and Garden Road are proposing 81 single family homes and eight open space reserves on the estimated 23 acres.
The lots being planned are smaller traditional single family, with minimum widths of 55 feet.
“Even though I’m not a fan of 55-foot lots, I understand that’s the going lot size now in a lot of places,” Planning and Zoning Commissioner Derrell Isenberg said during an Oct. 20 P&Z review.
Planning and Zoning at that meeting approved what is known as a cluster development plan for the property. The next steps include a preliminary plat and subdivision improvement agreement for installing infrastructure.
The site is located between O’Day and Garden Road, south of Brookshire Road and north of McHard Road. Its zoning is a combination of single-family residential and Garden O’Day Mixed Use. The homes would be built for sale, and the neighborhood will have an HOA, developers said.
