Veterans parade, program set Nov. 11 in Alvin

The county’s annual Veterans Day parade and program will be Nov. 11 in Alvin.

Events begin with a 7 a.m. breakfast for veterans at the Alvin Senior Center, 309 W. Sealy, Alvin.

Parade lineup is 10 a.m. at the Staton’s Shopping Center, 219 Taylor St., with the parade beginning at 11 a.m. and ending at approximately 12:30 p.m. in the same location.

“Alvin will be celebrating the 27th year of this parade,” said John Jasso, chairman of the veterans organization of Brazoria County. “All the other communities in the county will be coming too Alvin to celebrate.”

Currently, there are an estimated 17,000 veterans living in the county, he said.

The parade will be followed with a program at 1 p.m. at National Oak Park, 118 S. Magnolia, Alvin. Free hot dogs will be served from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Events are sponsored by the American Legion Post 129.
