City receives excellence award for financial reporting

            The City of Friendswood has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for fiscal year 2018 – 2019. Phyllis Rinehart, Controller with the City of La Porte, presented the award to the city at the recent City Council meeting January 11, 2021.

            The  Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

            This is the 32nd consecutive year the Administrative Services Department has been recognized with this achievement. Council recognized the efforts of Katina Hampton, Director of Administrative Services;  Rhonda Bloskas, Deputy Director of Administrative Services – Finance; the accounting staff, and the entire Administrative Services Department.

            Their cumulative efforts enabled the City  to reach this achievement.

            City officials were recognized at the meeting for years of service in five year increments. The recognition has been previously done in December at the Employee Christmas Party but in 2020, the party was cancelled due to the pandemic.

            Recognized at the recent Council meeting were the following: 25 year recipient Stephanie Price-Taylor (PD); 20 year recipients: Tammy Scoggins (PD), Brian Mansfield (FMO/EM), David Gonzales (PD) and Elaine Langton (PD); 15 year recipients: Jane Sullivan (AS)), James Toney (Parks), John Johnson (IT), Christina Hicks (LIB), Andrew Whittaker (PD), Stephen Eades (PD), Roger Stenstrom (PD), Patricia Anaya (PD) and Jason Ives (PD); 10 year recipients: Brian Rouane (CDD), Carlos Granillo (PD), Bradley Rusk (PD), and Rosalyn Redmon (PD); and 5 year recipients: Keri Zombory (PD), Matthew Diaz (Parks); Tuan Nguyen (ENG), Rick Watkins (ENG), Quanah Radabaugh (PD), Reymundo Orozco (PW), Johnny Tram (PD) and Daniel Wilkerson (PD).

            City Manager also presented Hurricane Harvey and COVID 19 updates.
