The countdown has begun for the Fourth of July festivities on Monday, July 4 in Friendswood.

Here are some Frequently Asked Questions for the 4th of July programs.

Q: Will there be food vendors at the Centennial Park event?

A: Yes, The Parks Dept. has expanded their food court this year with a variety of choices from BBQ to Kettle Korn.

Q:What time does the evening event start?

A: The event begins at 7:30 pm. The shuttle buses start rolling at 6:30 pm from the Methodist Church and Friendswood High School. Buses roll until 8:45 pm, stop for the fireworks and immediately start transporting attendees back to the parking locations once the fireworks end.

Q: Can we bring in snacks and coolers?

A: Yes, and if riding shuttles make sure the cooler is small enough to fit on your lap. No glass containers are allowed.

Q: May we bring in chairs on the shuttle?

A: Yes

Q: May I bring my dog on the shuttle?

A: No, but dogs are allowed to walk in as long as they are on a leash.

Q: May we walk into the park from FM 518 or Falcon Ridge?

A: Absolutely but please be cautious of vehicles.

Q: Will the amusement rides be at the evening program?

A: There will no longer be amusement rides at the evening program.

Q: Will there be detours due to the morning parade?

A: Friendswood Drive will be shut down in both directions from 9:50 – 11 am on Monday, July 4, 2022 for the annual 4th of July Parade. Use Sunset Dr. or Blackhawk Blvd. as alternate routes.

Q: Will Centennial Park be closed for set up?

A: For the safety of residents during preparation and clean-up of the July 4th Concert and Fireworks, Centennial Park (2200 South Friendswood Drive), will be closed, June 27th thru Friday, July 8th, except for the July 4th evening activities.

Q: Will there be a bike parade on July 4 and who can enter?

A: Children are invited to participate in the 4th of July parade’s decorated bicycle contest. Parents of the child who wants to enter their decorated bike into the parade need to bring them and their decorated bike to Comerica Bank parking lot at 203 S. Friendswood Dr. by 9 am for judging. Trophies and medals will be awarded to the best in each age category.

Categories include Ages 7 and under; Ages 8-11; and Ages 12 and older. No parade application is required just show up. Parade winners for each category will be announced at the gazebo in Stevenson Park at noon on July 4.
