Local businesses become HUB certified

The Pearland Chamber of Commerce and the Brazoria County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce recently hosted a Historically Underutilized Business (HUB ) Certification event certifying twenty businesses at The University of Houston-Clear Lake at Pearland.

The certification process featured webinars from Terri Reed with the El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and onsite training from Maya Ingram, the State Comptrollers HUB Program Manager and Dr. Sheila Pope, Founder of the Resource Foundation.

The in-person training was held July 25, 2022 at the University of Houston-Clear Lake at Pearland.

“When we had the opportunity to work with the Brazoria County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to help inform and certify businesses for HUB qualifications, we jumped at the opportunity. We are excited to present these certifications to businesses in all the communities we serve and look forward to partnering with other community driven organizations to help these businesses utilize the resources afforded to them.” – Jim Johnson

The Statewide Procurement Division Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) Program administers the HUB program in accordance with Texas Government Code Section 2161 and Texas Administrative Code, Title 34, Chapter 20, Subchapter D, Division 1, Sections 20.281 to 20.298.
