Blanchard wins first place in national competition

City of Friendswood Multimedia Communications Specialist Katy Blanchard was awarded first place in the Graphic Design Category at the City-County Communications & Marketing Association or 3CMA Savvy Awards held recently. Entries were not only from Texas but from all over the United States.

The City-County Communications & Marketing Association or 3CMA is the nation’s premiere network of local government communicators. For over 30 years, 3CMA has hosted their Savvy Awards competition annually.

The 2022 Savvy Awards competition is open to all local government jurisdictions – cities, counties, towns, villages, special districts, etc. Also, public relations or consulting firms may submit entries on behalf of their local government clients, provided they are submitted under the client’s name and jurisdiction.

Blanchard won first place in the Graphic Design Category for the Fairy Trail Map design that accompanies the Fairy Trail in Stevenson Park.

The same design took first place at the state level in 2021 through the Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers, TAMIO Awards in the Special Publication category. Then in 2022 the Christmas Fairy Trail map and design placed third at the TAMIO Awards.
Other recognition for the Fairy Trail is the recent recognition of the trail from Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) annual Parks and Natural Areas Award Program.

H-GAC established the Parks and Natural Areas awards program in 2006 to highlight best practices and innovative approaches to parks planning and implementation. H-GAC honors projects in the categories of Projects Over $500,000, Projects Under $500,000, Planning Process/ Policy Tools, and, new in 2021 Programming.

Lastly, the KFB Fairy Trail will be featured in a new book, 111 Places for Kids in Houston That You Must Not Miss written by Joni Fincham which is currently available on Amazon.

Blanchard with her artistic talents as well as H-GAC, Joni Fincham and HEB,(sponsored the trail) has put the Friendswood Fairy Trail on the map, giving it national recognition.
