A total of 23 band, choir and orchestra students from across Clear Creek ISD’s five comprehensive high schools were selected as 2023 All-State members by the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA).
“The Visual and Performing Arts department is extremely proud of the young students who have accomplished so much by achieving membership into this phenomenal group,” said CCISD Director of Visual and Performing Arts Greg Goodman. “Less than 1% of student musicians in Texas ever achieve this prestigious award.”
TMEA sponsors the Texas All-State audition process to promote students’ dedication to their musical knowledge and skill and to encourage educators to support their students in this development. Around 70,000 high school students compete for a spot in one of only 18 Texas All-State ensembles.
“We would like to also thank the parents and guardians who have invested so much time and resources so their students can experience a once in a lifetime musical experience,” Goodman said. “In addition, thank you to the educators and private lesson staff for spending significant time with each student so that their individual accomplishments can be realized.”
The culmination of this process is the annual TMEA Clinic and Convention in San Antonio each February, which is the largest of its kind. All-State musicians from band, choir, and orchestra will gather for three days of rehearsals followed by a concert Saturday evening.
“Getting to rehearse and perform with the best peer musicians from all corners of the state under the baton of a nationally-renown conductor is the experience of a lifetime,” Goodman said.
