Spring Break Guide: Activities plentiful for week-long break

This weekend is the beginning of Spring Break for most Houston area schools, including Pearland and Alvin ISDs and Alvin Community College, which will be closed Monday and reopen the following Monday, March 20.

Pearland’s Vic Coppinger YMCA offers a five-day Spring Break Day Camp for ages 5 through 12 from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Member cost is $175. For information, email alexis.courtney@ymcahouston.org or visit the YMCA website.

Also in Pearland, Space City Fencing Academy is offering a Spring Break camp for ages 5 to 13 in a full day or half-day format. For information, call 832-288-3076.

Houston’s Health and Medical Science Museum is offering a Spring Into Health sessions all week with activities for families including a rock climbing wall, brain dissections with $15 admissions. Similar activities will be held during free family Thursday, scheduled 2 to 8 p.m. March 16.

Normally closed on Mondays, the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft will be open all week during spring break with hands-on activities for school age children between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Admission is free. Call 713-529-4848 or email education@crafthouston.org.
