Both councilmen have announced their intention to run for Texas House District 29, where Rep. Ed Thompson is not seeking reelection.

The first day to file for a place on the ballot is Tuesday, Oct. 10, and last day is Oct. 30.
Winners of the special election will serve the remainder of each term. Position No. 3 ends in May of 2026, and Position No. 6 ends in May of 2025. All council positions are at-large.
Early voting begins Nov. 27 at three locations.

Those interested in running for office should contact the city secretary by email, citysecretary@pearlandtx.gov, or by phone at 281-652-1653.
