The Tour De Lites — an evening group bike ride through one of Pearland’s most festively lit neighborhoods — will celebrate 30 years next weekend on Dec. 9.
More than 100 riders are expected for this year’s ride, which begins and ends at Independence Park and travels at a leisurely pace through the Green Tee Terrace community. Following behind cyclists is a hayride for non-riders who want to join the fun.
Check-in is 5:30 p.m. at the park, 3449 Pearland Parkway. Participants are encouraged to light and decorate bikes, and a best-decorated bike contest will be held at the park pavilion at 6:30 p.m.
The ride and hayride will begin at 7:15 p.m. Homes along the route are decorated and lit for the holidays, and outdoor caroling during the ride is not uncommon.
Fees are $20 for general admission per rider, with a family add-on rider for $5. Seating on the hayride is limited, and the fee is $25.
Registration fees benefit the Forever Parks Foundation, a nonprofit that supports park facilities in Pearland.
