Students launch Windsong Prairie initiative

Date:

In a heartwarming community service project, students from the Friendswood ISD Transition Center have been hands-on in contributing to the local environment by making and distributing wildflower seed balls for Windsong Elementary Prairie.

The project is part of the Center’s commitment to integrating life skills and community service into the curriculum for students aged 18-21 who have completed their high school requirements.

The Transition Center, known for supporting young adults in bridging the gap between school life and adult responsibilities, offers a range of services, including life skills development, community service involvement, counseling, and safety lessons.

These activities are all facilitated in a secure environment with the support of trained staff.
The recent initiative saw students diligently crafting the wildflower seed balls, which are set to bloom and beautify the Windsong Elementary Prairie in the upcoming spring.

The activity not only aids in ecological restoration and beautification but also provides the students with a tangible sense of accomplishment and contribution to their community.
As spring approaches, the Transition Center and the wider Friendswood community eagerly anticipate the blossoming results of the students’ hard work.

This project exemplifies the Center’s dedication to empowering its students through real-world experiences and service, fostering personal growth and community betterment.
