The Pearland Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association is adding a 10K course to its 18th annual Pear Run, scheduled for May 4 at Independence Park.
The 10K run is in addition to the regular 5K course.
“It’s one of our biggest fundraisers of the year,” said member and event volunteer Heather Baker, who recently appeared at Pearland City Hall along with mascot “Peary,” to invite city leaders and staff to participate. “The Citizens Police Academy supports our amazing police department year-round with volunteers and funds for special projects.”
The Pear Run began in 2001 to help fund non-budgeted items. The organization has provided the department with equipment such as drones and bikes, along with contributing funds for its mobile command unit.
The 5K and 10K routes will begin and end at 3449 Pearland Parkway.
Race-day packet pickup begins at 6:45 a.m. the day of the run, with the 10K starting at 7:30 a.m. and the 5K starting at 8 a.m.
Partial closures of Pearland Parkway and Dixie Farm are scheduled for the race; roads should be reopened by 9:30 a.m.
Registration is open now at PearRun.com, and sponsorships begin at $150.
