Twelve local students were named 2024 National Merit Scholars, ranking among only 15,000 finalists nationwide.
Finalists compete for more than 7,100 scholarships to be awarded now through mid-June.
PISD finalists were Brady Pierce of Pearland High, Thomas Lambert, Ian MacPhail, and Kaytlynn Norman of Turner High, and Hussein Elsaie, Hantao Jin, Sasha Kuzmenko, Shraddha Madhi, Benjamin Walsworth-Purkiss, Alexander Wright, Melinda Yao and Haoqi Zhang.
