June report to detail AISD growth needs

Date:

by Nicole Bradford

A citizen’s committee appointed to address the future needs of Alvin ISD is set to give its recommendations to the school board on June 12.

In December, the board appointed the committee to address the school district’s growing enrollment versus its classroom space needs in the coming years.

Alvin ISD last held a bond election in 2018, but the district is projected to enroll more than 33,074 by 2028, according to demographers. That number will grow to nearly 37,000 by 2033.

The committee, which initially met on February 12, is comprised of parents, elected officials, property owners, and business representatives.

Meetings are held at 6:30 p.m. on March 25, April 8, April 29, and May 6 at the Liberty Alumni Hall in the AISD Heritage Complex.
