FHS Sophomore takes 1st place at State Science Fair

Friendswood High School sophomore Ishan Pendyala won first place in the state in the Texas Science and Engineering competition, which was held at Texas A&M University in College Station on March 23, 2024.

Pendyala’s Fair Senior division category was Systems Software. His project topic was “Developing Epileptic Activity and Trigger Content Detection Software using a Computer-Based Application for Real Time Monitoring and Seizure Reporting.”

He also received a $750 cash award from Summus Industries and an invitation to the Governor’s Science and Technology Champions Academy camp, which will be held this summer at SMU.

Pendyala qualified to participate in the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair at the Science and Engineering Fair of Houston in March.

ISEF is the world’s largest international pre-college science competition, and Pendyala will compete with other top students in Los Angeles, California, during a week-long competition in May.
