Burglary
Mar. 21 (6:02 a.m.) A building burglary was reported at Timber Creek Golf Club, 4554 FM 2351. Lawn equipment and a backpack containing cash and credit cards were stolen. The thief used one of the stolen credit cards before it could be reported stolen.
Theft
Mar. 18 (2:47 p.m.) A DeWalt power drill was stolen from the tailgate of a City of Friendswood Public Works truck parked in the 16800 block of David Glen Drive.
Mar. 18 (7:35 a.m.) Copper wire was stolen from a construction site for the new Dude Stop Gas Station, 600 N. Friendswood Drive. Approximately 200 feet of heavy gauge wiring was cut and stolen from a group of heavy-duty commercial breaker panels between March 1st and March 18th.
Mar. 18 (7:44 a.m.) A document safe was stolen from a 1000 block of Point Isabel Lane residence. The victim recently moved into the home and had several contractors inside the home in December and January.
Mar. 18 (8:04 p.m.) A Riptide Vacuum pool cleaning machine was stolen from the side of the roadway in the 300 block of Old Course Drive.
Mar. 22 (2:49 p.m.) A Friendswood woman called the police from Kroger at 3135 FM 528 when she received an alert that her credit card was used at the Baybrook Mall Apple store. She checked her purse and found that her wallet was stolen. While she was making the police report, another attempt to use her card was made at Discount Tire. Video at the Apple store showed the person using the credit card to be a white male wearing a dark blue hat that said “Merica” on it. The man was wearing a face mask and had brown hair and brown facial hair. He was wearing a white-collar Tommy Hilfiger shirt, khaki shorts, and dark-colored New Balance shoes.
Mar. 22 (4:05 p.m.) A vehicle was stolen from Avis Budget Car Rental at 141 N. Friendswood Drive. The company rented a white 2023 Ford Expedition Max to a person they identified with an Arizona driver’s license and a VISA card with the same listed name. The vehicle was rented on January 12, 2024, and was supposed to be returned on January 30, 2024. The tracking on the vehicle shows that the vehicle was taken to Mexico. The person who was identified in the Arizona driver’s license and whose name appeared on the VISA card confirmed that they had their identity stolen.
Fraud
Mar. 18 (10:02 a.m.) A Friendswood woman agreed to be an online companion to a man who contacted her through her Instagram account. The man sent online checks to the woman. She deposited them into her checking account before transferring the money to Cash App. Then, she transferred money to another Cash App account. The next day, the woman received a call from her bank and her account was locked due to a fraud investigation. The woman contacted the man, cut off their companionship deal.
Mar. 19 (12:49 p.m.) A Friendswood woman received a job offer from a company. The entire process was online. She later called to check with the employer and discovered that it was a fake job offer. The woman is now concerned about the personal identifying information that was given to the fraudulent company representative.
Mar. 19 (3:02 p.m.) A fraudulent check was deposited into a Moody Bank account at 408 W. Parkwood Avenue on February 29th. A black male entered the bank with a Pennsylvania driver’s license, provided secondary proof of residency, opened an account, and made a small deposit into the account. He later came back and made a much larger deposit with a fraudulent check.
Mar. 20 (1:08 p.m.) Without her permission, a Friendswood woman’s debit card information was used to pay for streaming services with Fubo and Touch Tunes.
Mar. 21 (1:48 p.m.) A Friendswood man began receiving notices from a collection agency regarding a past due Direct TV bill. The man told police that he did not open the unauthorized account which his personal information was used to open.
Mar. 22 (10:05 a.m.) A Friendswood man received his monthly bank statement and discovered four fraudulent transactions that were payments made to AT&T.
Criminal Mischief
Mar. 18 (4:16 p.m.) Friendswood Fire Department responded to a small grass fire in the 200 block of Brigadoon Lane. While on scene, Fire Department personnel found that a wooden power pole was intentionally cut near the base.
Mar. 24 (7:59 a.m.) The rear window and front windshield were damaged on a truck parked in the 1300 block of Edgewater Drive. It appeared that the vehicle was shot at with BBs.
Disorderly Conduct
Mar. 22 (8:00 p.m.) A Clear Brook High School girls’ basketball team bonding event at Stevenson Park turned into a physical fight. One team member sent a Snapchat announcing the team’s location. Others showed up and a fight ensued. When the police were called, the uninvited group left the scene. They were identified by a Clear Brook school liaison and a cell phone that was abandoned at the scene.
Traffic
Mar. 22 (10:23 p.m.) A vehicle parked in the driveway of a residence in the 900 block of W. Edgewood Drive was hit by another vehicle. The driver did not stop and report the crash. The victim’s vehicle had minor damage to the rear end.
Other Incidents
Mar. 21 (7:38 p.m.) Friendswood Police are investigating the online solicitation of a minor. The father of a 14-year-old Friendswood girl checked his daughter’s phone and found that she was sending sexually explicit material of herself to several adult men and receiving the same type of material. The pictures were being transmitted back and forth through Snapchat.
