Alvin ISD names finalists for the teaching award

Five secondary and six elementary educators have been selected as the finalists for Alvin ISD District Teachers of the Year.

Elementary school finalists were Christine Parker, Pomona Elementary; Guadalupe Fuentes, Sanchez Elementary; Calle Navarre, Duke Elementary; Denise Stanton, Mark Twain Elementary; Christian Byrd, Marek Elementary; and LaShel Rowton, Disney Elementary.

Secondary finalists were Ernest Parker, Rodeo Palms Junior High; Vickie Koehler, RISE Academy; Rachel Easley, Iowa Colony High School; Mary Stimson, Alvin High School; and Natalie David, Alvin Junior High.

A committee of community leaders and administrators will determine the district Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year and announce winners at a May 9 ceremony at Iowa Colony High School. The two chosen will represent Alvin ISD at the Region 4 Teacher of the Year competition.
