‘Mafia Mania’ comes to Independence Park

The producer of the popular Tejano Super Jam is bringing another live concert to Independence Park this Saturday, featuring the Houston band La Mafia.

“Mafia Mania” will open at 4 p.m. at the park with live music beginning at approximately 6 p.m. at the park, 3449 Pearland Parkway, and ending at 11 p.m.

Due to noise complaints from residents near the park, the live music will take place to the park’s berm area — a change requested by Pearland city council, which last month granted the event permit.

“People said their windows were vibrating,” Mayor Kevin Cole said. “When it was under the pavilion it was like a coffee can. Having it on the hill will certainly dampen (noise levels).”

Gate admission for the event is $30 general admission or $100 for VIP. Parking will be on site, but a portion of Pearland Parkway may be closed to allow parking at Pearland High School.
