Friendswood High School’s talented art students have once again showcased their exceptional skills, this time at the Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE) state competition held last weekend. Art teachers Mandy Harris and Mary Wise announced that seven of their students competed against the best in the state, with four bringing home gold medals.
Over 33,000 students from across Texas participated in the regional competitions, but only 2,300 advanced to the state level. Demonstrating their artistic excellence, only 25% of those at state were awarded gold medals. Friendswood High proudly counts four of their own among these distinguished recipients.
Gold medalists include Avy Imamura, Claire Newman, Rania Palmer, and Vivian Tang, each of whom has made significant contributions to the arts with their innovative and expressive artwork.
The school also celebrated the achievements of Kaitlyn Hager, Ben Seifert, and Amelia Weibel, who represented Friendswood with their creative works at the state competition. Their participation and dedication to their art were highlighted by their teachers as an integral part of the school’s success at this year’s VASE.
“We are immensely proud of all our students who represented Friendswood High at the state competition. Their hard work and dedication to the arts have truly paid off, and they serve as inspiration for their peers,” said teachers Harris and Wise in a joint statement.
