On Thursday, April 25, the Friendswood Chamber of Commerce held its annual luncheon to honor the Top 10 graduates of Friendswood High School (FHS). The event was held at First Baptist Church and was attended by representatives from Friendswood ISD (FISD), the Chamber of Commerce, and community members.
The Top 10 graduates were recognized for outstanding academic achievements, leadership, and community involvement. The luncheon provided an opportunity for the Chamber of Commerce to celebrate these exceptional students’ accomplishments and showcase the strong partnership between FISD and the business community.
“We take great pride in celebrating the remarkable accomplishments of our Top 10 graduates,” FISD Superintendent Thad Roher said. “Their academic excellence is a testament to the unmatched education provided by Friendswood High School and the commitment of our exceptional teachers. Thank you to the Friendswood Chamber of Commerce for honoring the dedication and achievements of these outstanding students.”
Valedictorian for the Class of 2024 is Jenny Chen. She will attend the University of Texas at Austin this fall to major in Computer Science. During her time at FHS, Chen was involved with the National Honor Society (NHS).
Sebastian Leiman is the FHS Salutatorian. He will attend the University of Texas at Austin and major in Computational Engineering. Leiman’s involvements include varsity tennis, octathlon, UIL science and computer science, and NHS.
Audrey Enochs is third in the Top 10. She plans to major in Biological Engineering at Cornell University. Enochs participates in USEF/USHJA Equestrian competitions and is a member of the Recycling Club, National Spanish Honor Society (NSHS), National English Honor Society (NEHS), and NHS.
Fourth-ranked is Joaquin Krancher. He plans to attend the University of Texas at Austin and major in Chemical Engineering. Krancher is a member of the FHS band, student council, UIL current events and issues, Mary Queen youth council, and NHS.
James Moon finished fifth in his graduating class. He will attend the University of Texas at Austin and study Computational Engineering. Moon is a member of HOSA, the Recycling Club, the Math and Science Club, UIL Number Sense, UIL Science, and NHS.
Aldrich Nguyen is sixth in the Top 10. He plans to attend the University of Texas at Austin and major in Chemical Engineering. Nguyen is a member of the Math and Science Club, Recycling Club, UIL, and NHS.
Also tied for sixth is Hugh Tian. He will study Computer Science at the University of Florida. Tian volunteers with LyondellBasell Trash Bash and is a member of the Recycling Club, Huaxia Chinese School, UIL Computer Science, UIL Mathematics, UIL Number Sense, and UIL Science.
Graham Gides is ranked eighth. He plans to attend Texas A&M University and major in mechanical engineering. Gides is a member of the FHS soccer team, First Baptist Church Friendswood youth group, FHS choir, and NHS.
Hayley Banwell is ninth-ranked. She plans to attend the University of Texas at Austin and major in Health and Society (Liberal Arts Honors). Banwell is member of Wranglerettes, NSHS, NEHS and NHS.
Edward Fudge is ranked tenth in the FHS class of 2024. He plans to study mathematics at Texas Tech University. Fudge is a member of the FHS cross country and track teams, the Recycling Club, the Mental Health Matters Club, UIL ready writing, the SAVE Rescue Coalition, and NHS.
Additionally, senior Kamryn Phillips was honored with a $1000 scholarship from the Chamber.
The Friendswood Chamber of Commerce has a long-standing tradition of supporting education and fostering partnerships between the business community and FISD.
