The ceremony serves as a platform to acknowledge the exemplary efforts of individuals who go above and beyond in their roles, significantly impacting the lives of students in Alvin ISD.
Among the honorees were the District Teachers of the Year, whose commitment to excellence in education stood out among their peers. Christine Parker, representing Pomona Elementary, and Vickie Koehler, from RISE Academy, were recognized for their dedication and innovative approaches to teaching.
Recognizing the promise and potential of new educators, Alvin ISD also awarded the title of District Rookie Teachers of the Year to Sydney Zavalla of Jeter Elementary and Valeria Serrato from Iowa Colony High School. Their enthusiasm and fresh perspectives have already made a positive impression on students and colleagues.
In addition to educators, the ceremony paid tribute to essential support staff who play vital roles in the district’s operations. Kim Welch of Passmore Elementary and Janette Avalos from Harby Jr. High were named District Paraprofessionals of the Year.
Highlighting the district’s leadership excellence, Monique Gadson of EC Mason/Barbara Bennett Elementary and Dale Tribble of Fairview Jr. High were honored as Principals of the Year.
