Rogers Middle School Student Recognized for Service

Date:

Rogers Middle School student Yi Qi was recognized along with 120 outstanding young students from across the state who completed membership in Education in Action’s 2023-24 Lone Star Leadership Academy Alumni Council.
After attending a Lone Star Leadership Academy summer camp, they were invited to join the Alumni Council to continue receiving leadership training during the school year.

In addition to completing leadership skill-building lessons, each student identified a need in the community and created and led at least two others in a service project of their choosing.

Qi and seven friends focused on helping homeless pets to be provided food while also finding them a forever home. The Houston Humane Society was very grateful for the assistance, “I think small work becomes big work if you put your heart into it.” Qi stated. The project sponsor was Yidan Li.

The 2023-2024 Lone Star Leadership Academy Alumni Council members represented 61 school districts, five private schools, one charter school, and three homeschools.

Education in Action offers the Lone Star Leadership Academy summer camps and Alumni Council program each year to further its mission to empower young people to be informed and active community leaders.
