Area celebrations, fireworks planned

The Pearland Celebration of Freedom begins at 6 p.m. Thursday at Independence Park, 3449 Pearland Parkway.

Scheduled from 6 to 10 p.m., the free event includes live music by Danny Ray and the Atlantic Street Band, a children’s area, food trucks, raffles, and an arts and crafts market. An 18-minute fireworks show will begin at approximately 9 p.m.

Free parking will be at Pearland High, 3775 S. Main St. Accessible parking will be available at the park, entering through Liberty Drive. Guests can bring food and drinks to the park and are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Tents, canopies, glass, pets, and tobacco are prohibited.
