Museum hosts July 11 presentation

The Brazoria County Historical Museum hosts Tarrant County College history professor John Lundberg with a 6 p.m. presentation on Thursday, July 11, on his latest book, “Texas Lowcountry: Slavery and Freedom on the Texas Coast.”

Lundberg will discuss the competing cultures and peoples that made up the Texas Lowcountry between 1822 and 1840 and the history of the enslavers and the enslaved between 1840 and 1865.

Lundberg will also investigate the experiences of freed people in the region from Reconstruction to 1895.

His book, recently published by Texas A&M University Press, will be available for purchase in the Windows Book and Gift Shop. Lundberg will also be on hand to autograph copies.
