Cooling stations open through September

Date:

United Way of Brazoria County, in partnership with the Brazoria County Library System, Brazoria County Dream Center, and Gulf Coast Transit District, is offering cooling stations throughout the county until the end of September.

Cooling station locations include all Brazoria County Libraries, the Salvation Army, and the Brazoria County Dream Center. These will be open and accessible to residents when the heat index is forecast to reach 100 degrees or higher, Monday through Saturday, during their scheduled hours.

The Gulf Coast Transit District is partnering with the United Way of Brazoria County to offer transportation services for those who need it. Residents can call the Gulf Coast Transit District at 979-487-2318 to request a free ride to one of the cooling stations. The driver will issue a pass, which will be signed by a librarian or an employee at the cooling station, to ensure a return trip.

Groups, organizations, and individuals who would like to donate cases of bottled water can drop them off at any of the 12 libraries throughout the county.
