Friendswood ISD shares construction progress

Date:

With the new school year rapidly approaching, Friendswood ISD is excited to showcase the nearly completed spaces at Friendswood High School. The new Performing Arts Center, culinary facility, AV studio, engineering lab, choir hall, and band hall are all set to open just in time for students’ arrival in August.

Construction crews are currently working to put the finishing touches on these projects, funded by voter-approved bonds in 2020. Although the high school was initially slated for completion in January, a roof collapse that tragically killed one worker and injured two others halted construction just over a year ago.

The last major hurdle for these facilities is the Fire Marshal inspection, which is required before an Occupancy Permit can be issued. District officials expect this process to be completed before teachers report for duty on August 5th.
