Peak storm season still approaching

Date:

The American Red Cross, Texas Gulf Coast Region, is preparing for peak hurricane season in August and September.

Volunteer positions needed include shelter support, health services, and disaster action team members, who assist in events such as house fires. More information on volunteering can be found at redcross.org/volunteertoday.

The National Weather Service’s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has forecasted that 2024 will be marked by above-average hurricane activity in the Atlantic Ocean, which could lead to extreme weather in the latter part of the year.

More details on building an emergency kit, evacuation plans, and how to stay informed can be accessed through the organization’s free app at redcross.org/apps.
