The Lions Club of Pearland’s annual 51 Gun Raffle is set for Aug. 24 this year to raise money for Lions projects.
The event is from 6 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 2320 Hatfield Road.
More than $100,000 in prizes will be raffled, including the traditional 51 guns. Other prizes include fishing and hunting trips, plus family getaways. The evening includes barbecue and entertainment, and event tickets are $25 or five for $100.
One of several major fundraisers held during the year, the gun raffle benefits Lions Club charities and the building fund. Lions annually provide more than $200,000 in services to the Pearland community, including eye exams and glasses for children in need and scholarships.
Formed in 1948, the Lions Club of Pearland helped create the first water district as well as the first garbage pickup, streetlights, and sidewalks in the city.
