The Northern Brazoria County Education Alliance is holding its second annual “Men Who Cook” fundraiser on Nov. 7, benefiting the Pearland ISD Career and Technical Education Programs.
The event is from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at La Maison Blanc, 5933 Brookside Road. Guests will sample the culinary creations of chef teams and vote on their favorites. This year, the popular silent auction is returning. Both the live and silent auctions offer one-of-a-kind items.
“Our live and silent auctions are unique because many of our auction items are crafted by the Pearland ISD Career and Technical Education students,” alliance director Cindy Buchwald said. “Last year, we auctioned off an aluminum trailer, fire pits, BBQ pit, beautiful wood flats, wood art (and) playhouse.”
Past auction items have included cakes and cookies, floral design pieces such as wreaths and holiday centerpieces, and even drone footage for businesses or property.
Looking for a more fun and relaxed fundraiser, board members came up with “Men Who Cook” after hearing about a chamber of commerce event that had been held for years.
Founded in 2007, the Pearland-based nonprofit aligns industry, business, education, and government to improve the regional workforce and economic growth. It offers scholarships through the Pearland ISD and works to provide high school students with skills matched with employer needs, as well as college success strategies and entry into key industries.
