Friendswood ISD (FISD) welcomed 6,065 students on Tuesday, August 13, for the first day of the 2024-2025 school year. This year is especially significant as FISD celebrates its 85th anniversary, marking a long history of excellence in education and a commitment to future growth.
As the district reflects on 85 years of service to the students of Friendswood, it acknowledges the evolution and changes that have taken place while remaining true to its core mission. A major highlight of this school year is the opening of the newly renovated Friendswood High School facilities, made possible by the 2020 Bond passed by supportive voters. These renovations include a new Performing Arts Center, audio-video studio, culinary arts café and kitchen, band hall, choir room, and engineering space.
Superintendent Thad Roher expressed his enthusiasm for the new school year.
“This year is special as we celebrate 85 years strong in Friendswood ISD. We are excited to open the newly renovated Friendswood High School facilities, which are a direct result of the community’s support. These improvements will provide unmatched opportunities for our students. I am grateful to everyone who has been part of this journey and look forward to an amazing year ahead.”
