Dance studio to join gymnastics academy in industrial park

A longstanding Pearland dance studio is moving to a new home on Halik Road, a location designed as a warehouse park but already home to a busy gymnastics academy.
The space at 4407 Halik is large enough to accommodate a growing number of students at Project 3 Dance Productions, according to owner Kassi Bolan.

Pearland City Council on September 9 unanimously approved a conditional use permit for the growing business to move into a nearly 6,000-square-foot space zoned for industrial use. The permit request drew more than 40 public comments in support, as well as a recommendation from city staff and Planning and Zoning.

The new location will not only provide more space but is adjacent to one of the largest gymnastics academies in Pearland, Bolan said.

“Many of our students split their time between dance and gymnastics at Pearland Elite, and being in such close proximity will greatly benefit our dance families,” she said.

A third-generation dance instructor and studio owner, Bolan trained and then taught at her grandmother’s studio and, in 2006, joined her mother, Tami Richardson, in founding Dance Productions in Pearland. The studio moved to its location on Broadway Street in 2011 and was renamed Project 3 Dance Productions after Richardson retired in 2021.

“We want multigenerational businesses like this, not only to be there but thrive,” Mayor Kevin Cole said.
