Pearland educator recognized with Outstanding Hispanic Teacher Award

Date:

Pearland Junior High West teacher Elmer Villalobos was recently recognized with the Outstanding Hispanic Teacher Award, presented by the Brazoria County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Villalobos, a self-described passionate teacher, has spent the last few years teaching different levels of Spanish at the secondary level. He loves languages and their cultures, as well as helping others make sense of them. This passion for all things foreign has earned him a Fullbright scholarship to teach English in Germany. He hopes to help his students make sense of the world around them.

A Pearland Junior High West parent recently shared that Mr. Villalobos made a great impression not only their child, but all classmates. They went on to highlight his syllabus, which reads, “I am passionate about teaching this beautiful language and sharing its rich culture. My goal is to make my classroom a place where every student feels comfortable exploring the language, its cultures, and enhance their language skills in the process.”

The parent continued, “Mr. Villalobos generously invests him time in the students at Pearland Junior High West, and not just within the walls of his classroom. I cannot think of a more deserving individual that represents our community while selflessly dedicating his career to the betterment of our students, and in promoting the Spanish language.”
