The Pearland High School Lady Oilers soccer team is coming together in a heartfelt show of support for one of their own. Senior varsity player Alexia Sanchez was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a diagnosis that means she will be unable to participate in her final high school soccer season.
In response, the Lady Oilers have launched a fundraiser to assist Alexia and her family during this challenging time. The team is selling custom-designed T-shirts, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to support Alexia. The shirts, emblazoned with the slogan “Oilers Kick Cancer Outta Here – Team Lexi,” are available online at https://gogandy.com/oilers-kick-cancer-outta-here-team-lexi-shirts.
For those who wish to help but are not interested in purchasing a shirt, the team accepts monetary donations through Zeffy. Donations collected through this platform will be used to provide DoorDash gift cards for Alexia and her family, helping ease some of their daily burdens.
Head Girls’ Soccer Coach Elise Cox expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support, saying, “Thank you for your support and for helping us show Alexia that she’s not alone in this fight!”
The Pearland High School community is rallying behind Alexia, proving that the bonds of teamwork extend far beyond the soccer field. Those who would like to contribute are encouraged to purchase a T-shirt or donate through the provided links.
