Burglary
Feb. 5 (12:00 p.m.) A theft of a firearm was reported in the 16100 block of Barcelona Drive. The gun was stolen from an unlocked vehicle.
Criminal Mischief
Feb. 8 (8:59 a.m.) A mailbox was vandalized in the 16900 block of Stardale Lane. When the officer arrived, he found part of a dark blue car bumper left in the front yard. The owner believes the damage occurred at 9:30 p.m. on February 7th.
Fraud
Feb. 3 (2:11 p.m.) Police are investigating a series of forged checks that were cashed from the B1895 Tavern business account. A suspect has been named.
Feb. 4 (8:34 a.m.) A Friendswood man discovered he had been the victim of identity theft after receiving an IRS form for income he never earned. The man, whose identity was used to open a cash App account, reported the fraud to the company.
Feb. 4 (9:41 a.m.) A Friendswood woman’s personal identifying information was used to open a Verizon account.
Feb. 4 (11:50 a.m.) A Gilmer man may have used his brother’s identity when incarcerated in Louisiana. Now, the victim is receiving ambulance and hospital bills for the ride to the hospital and treatment during his brother’s incarceration.
Feb. 5 (11:04 a.m.) A Friendswood man was trying to find a good deal on a rental vehicle for an upcoming trip. He stumbled across an advertisement online, provided his name and phone number, and immediately began receiving text messages. He was instructed to purchase GO2 prepaid VISA cards for the rental. When he contacted the rental company, they had a reservation for him but no prepayment amount. They also advised that they do not require payment until the vehicle is picked up.
Threats
Feb. 4 (9:23 a.m.) A former employee sent threatening text messages to a former coworker. The suspect was given a warning not to return to any of the business’ Friendswood locations due to vandalism and drug use.
Trespass
Feb. 3 (9:56 a.m.) A resident in the 600 block of High Ridge Drive reported a trespasser on their property. The incident occurred on January 31st at 6:20 a.m., an unknown person entered the back patio that leads to the back door. He triggered the security lights, then quickly left. A neighbor reported the same type of incident occurring two nights prior.
Traffic
Feb. 5 (10:10 a.m.) A 75-year-old La Marque man died after he was involved in a traffic crash in the 1100 block of S. Friendswood Drive at the intersection with Whispering Pines. He was driving a Dodge Challenger north on S. Friendswood Drive when he made a left turn across southbound lanes into a strip center parking lot and was struck by a Dodge truck going north on S. Friendswood Drive.
