Every FHS delegate played a crucial role in the conference, with each student either authoring or sponsoring a resolution that successfully passed in their respective committees. Their ability to negotiate and advocate for international policies highlighted their preparedness and dedication to the program.
Two students received individual recognition for their outstanding performances. Junior Camille Arthur was named an Honorable Delegate in the General Assembly, reflecting her leadership and persuasive diplomacy. Meanwhile, freshman Raga Akkaladevi earned an award for her position paper, demonstrating strong research and analytical skills.
Friendswood High School English teacher and UIL Current Events coach Katie Ellis commended the students for their commitment to global issues and their ability to engage in high-level discussions.
“The Model United Nations team had another successful conference at the University of Houston,” Ellis said. “They excelled in diplomacy and advocating for the countries they represented.”
With this latest success, the FHS MUN team continues to establish itself as a competitive and accomplished group in the Houston area.
