Brazoria County Library Foundation’s Evening with the Author Hosts Babette Fraser Hale April 29

Date:

The Brazoria County Library System Foundation presents its annual Evening with the Author on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, featuring Babette Fraser Hale, author of This Familiar Heart: An Improbable Love Story. There will be copies of the book available for purchase that evening.

This Familiar Heart is an intimate rendering of the turbulent courtship and deep personal connection between Babette and her husband, the late, beloved Houston columnist Leon Hale.

Doors open at 6 pm, and dinner will be at 6:30 pm at the Brazoria County Fairgrounds Auditorium, 901 South Downing Street, in Angleton, Texas. Tickets are $50 per person, which includes dinner, and can be purchased until April 22 at any Brazoria County branch library, or at the Library Administration office at 912 N. Velasco in Angleton.

This fundraiser will once again benefit the Library System’s Summer Reading Challenge. More than 7,000 children, teens, and adults participated last year. There will also be a silent auction of themed gift baskets assembled by the Friends of the Library groups throughout Brazoria County. Proceeds from this event provide funds for special programming and materials for activities and special guest presentations.

The Brazoria County Library System Foundation, founded in 1981, is a 501(c)3 organization created to support the Brazoria County Library System. For more information, please call the Library Administration office at 979-864-1505.
