The Alvin ISD school board this month promoted Shadow Creek High Principal Craig Rhodes and planned major repairs for the campus track.
The board at its May 13 meeting named Rhodes as the district’s new executive director of secondary education.
“While I will no longer be serving as principal after the end of this school year, please know that I will continue to serve and support our secondary schools — Shadow Creek included — with the same passion and purpose that have guided me from the start,” Rhodes wrote in a message to parents and students.
Rhodes has also served in Alvin ISD as principal at McNair Junior High and Jeter Elementary.
The school board also approved an estimated $577,000 in track repairs at Shadow Creek High.
Weather permitting, the work is set to be completed by August. An assessment of the track states repairs are needed on the south portion “in order to return it to like new conditions.”
Trustees also approved a $619,000 synthetic turf replacement at Alvin High School’s Memorial Stadium and named Victoria Kwan as the Alvin ISD executive director of Elementary Education. Bob Atkins was named the district’s new maintenance director, and Charles Moore was appointed associate principal at Alvin High School.
