Hope Village, a long-standing nonprofit dedicated to serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, hosted a heartwarming celebration on Monday for Warren Glaser, the facility’s oldest resident, as he marked his 90th birthday.
Glaser, who has called Hope Village home since it opened its doors in the 1970s, was surrounded by fellow residents, staff, board members, and friends for the milestone event. The community gathered in the facility’s event center, where the 50 current residents — affectionately known as “Villagers” — enjoyed a festive lunch of Mexican food and birthday cake.
The celebration was filled with joy and laughter as Villagers serenaded Glaser with a lively rendition of “Happy Birthday,” filling the room with their signature enthusiasm. The event served as a testament to the enduring sense of family and community that Hope Village has fostered over the past five decades.
Among those in attendance was former State Senator Larry Taylor, a dedicated member of the Hope Village Board of Directors, who joined in the festivities by serving drinks to the Villagers and sharing in the celebration. “I think having Warren’s 90th birthday here epitomizes our commitment to our Villagers and their parents by providing a forever home,” Taylor said.
Hope Village offers residential homes and a day program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, providing not just care, but a nurturing environment where residents can live with dignity, purpose, and a sense of belonging. Glaser’s 90th birthday was a poignant reminder of the organization’s mission to create a lifelong home for its residents.
