Hope Village transformed its Wayne and Judy Robinson Community Center into a dazzling 1920s-inspired speakeasy on Saturday, September 19, as supporters gathered for the nonprofit’s annual fundraiser. The event, themed “The Gilded Village,” featured an elegant casino night filled with games, live entertainment, and community spirit.
Former State Senator and longtime Hope Village Board Member Larry Taylor emceed the evening, guiding guests through a night of lively fundraising and fun. Guests dressed in flapper dresses and tuxedos to match the vintage atmosphere, while blackjack, roulette, and poker tables provided both entertainment and opportunities to give back.
Hope Village, which has served adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities for nearly half a century, relies on community support to continue providing residential care, vocational training, and recreational activities. Events like The Gilded Village help sustain programs that enrich the lives of Village residents while keeping services accessible for families.
“This evening is about more than fun—it’s about celebrating the heart of Hope Village and ensuring its mission thrives for years to come,” Taylor told attendees.
Guests also enjoyed themed cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and uptempo music, creating an atmosphere that captured both the glamour of the Roaring Twenties and the generosity of the Friendswood community.
